Go wild! Geburtstagskarte

Hallo zusammen!

Hello everybody!
Today's card combines stamping with free-hand colouring / drawing which isn't my strong point, but I thought drawing elements for my background would make be a good training. Have a look and tell me what you think ;o)

I used Distress Inks for the background and got some inspiration on what to draw from the internet. When I had decided what kind of surrounding I wanted for my giraffe I drew the outlines of the trees with Antique Linen (which is a very light colour)  and coloured over them with the "real"colours.

While the scene dried I stamped the giraffe and the ballon with Archival Ink on some watercolour paper and coloured them also with Distress Inks. Colouring in the balloon I made sure to go darker towards the outside and to leave that white stripe where the light would reflect from it. That adds a lot of depth to an image like this I think. I put some bakers twine around the knot of the balloon and also around the tail of the giraffe and glued them onto my background piece. When I laid it down on my card panel it looked kind of lost though. So I decided to have a strip of paper on each side of my piece to give it some place to sit and that did the trick ;o)

  3. Great card again. Can I just ask why you used distress ink for colouring and not copies? Did you use brushes or how did you colour it I with those inks? Sorry probably silly questions but as you know I am still learning ;0)

    1. That is no silly question at all... Copics give you a nice, crisp and blended look - well, some are so talented, that they'll achieve a wantercolour look even with Copics, but unfortunately not me. I need a watercolouring medium to get the look I wanted on this card, so I used my Distress Inks.
