Happy Fall Squirrels

Heya everyone and happy fall :o)
I hope you all had a great start this week and that you had a fabulous weekend! I don't know how it is where you live, but here we can clearly see and feel that fall is coming. Last weekend though was lovely weather and we spend most of the time outside. I did manage to squeeze in some card making time though to create the card for the current PINspirational challenge. This is the inspiration picture:

I created the background using loads of Distress Inks (if you are interested I will list the exact colours for you) and dry embossed it with a folder that is meant for Christmas, but I always felt it looked a bit like leaves or a festive lamp string... Let's just say I like the look ;O) Next I placed a frame on top of the colourful background to tone it down just a little, added the squirrels and used some left over leaves from my "Hedgehog Hugs" card to give the card even more of an autumnal look.

The squirrels are from a Gerda Steiner set and I just love their cute faces! I hope you are going to join us and share your project and talent with us in our gallery! Have fun crafting and have a fabulous week! Yours Maike

Happy Happy Happy Panda

Heya my dear crafty friends!
Today's card is my inspiration for the new "Texture" challenge at the Crafty Cardmakers. I added texture in lots of ways to this birthday card. Can you spot them?

An easy way to add texture to a card is an embossing folder I find. Because I wanted it to take it up a notch I used Nuvo Embellishment Mousse for the top background which adds a metallic look. Next I created the second background for the back using Distress Oxide Ink. Dripping wate on Distress Inks and drying it with a paper towel would have given some texture on that piece as well, but I decided against it because I wanted the window area to look crisp and clean - compared to the rest at least ;o)

Another way to add texture to a card is dimension, so I created three for this card. The third one being the balloon which I die cut from some "nuvo'ed" paper and added an extry layer of enamel dots. I hope you like the card and that you are going to enter a card with texture to our gallery ;o) Have a wonderful week and happy crafting, yours Maike

A close-up, so you can see the layers and the shine a bit better ;o)

Good luck (Little goal-keeper)

Heya my dear crafty friends!
Today is two-cards-tuesday which means that I am going to share one card with you now and the neyt one later tonight :o) The card you are seeing here already is my inspiration for the current PINspirational Challenge. From today on we would like to see your projects about football or maybe you would much rather be inspired by the beautiful colours of the picture? That's awesome, too ;o)

http://pinspirationalchallenges.blogspot.com/2018/06/pinspirational-challenge-217.html

My inspiration came from the theme obviously but also from the circle form and the many different colours. My first step was to die cut a card panel, which I also die cut a circle from and dry embossed with a pattern that reminded me of the net in the goal. Next I die cut a circle frame that was slightly smaller than the opening, so that it would be able to move and another circle again smaller than the frame. On the latter I stamped a goal and added some grass and sky by simply going over it a few times with a (not re-inked) blending tool.

I adhered the eight footballs directly to the circle frame and then I started building my card. I had to think twice to make sure that the circle would be able to move, but it worked out just fine with the help of four circles glued behind the balls to stabilize them and also four Spin & Slide discs by MFT. After I had assembled everything I could add the cute little goal keeper and the sentiment as well. I hope you like the card and that I will get to see your creation in our gallery ;o) Have a wonderful week and happy crafting, yours Maike

Congratulations Mermaid

Heya my dear crafty friends!
Over at the Papercraft Challenge blog we have a whole new task for you. This time we have a bingo for you:
http://papercraft-challenges.blogspot.de/2018/04/challenge-009-bingo.html

I decided to go with the middle row, but with all the tiny fish images on the card I'd daresay the diagonal going from the top left to the bottom right would have worked too. Would you agree?

To create this card I first stamped and coloured a lot of underwater images, because I wanted to create a little scene. Next I used an ink blending tool and Distress Oxide Inks in "Blueprint Sketch", "Salty Ocean" and "Peacock Feathers" to create the background directly on the front of the card base. I used an Embossing Diffuser by Tim Holtz to leave the circle in the middle without texture. In order to highlight that section I die cut a huge circle frame from white paper and before adding it to the card using foam tape stamped the sentiment on it.

Now all that was left to so was to arrange all the previously coloured images and glue them on. Because there was quite a lot going on already I only used a few clear "Clear Droplets" by Pretty Pink Posh to embellish my card. If you want to avoid shiny glue marks on your card I highly recomment using "Multi Matte Medium" by Ranger. It dries matte so even if something spills out from under the droplets you can't see it once it is dry. I hope you like my card and that you will join us for our Bingo-Challenge! Have an amazing week and happy crafting ;o)

With Lots Of Love - Panda

Heya my dear crafty friends!
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, the Crafty Cardmakers thought that the new theme "Love and Romance" would work perfectly ;o) This is my inspiration for you:

First I had to colour this cute panda image. It is the digi stamp for Gerda Steiners Progressive Challenge from last month. In case you don't know about her challenge yet, have a look here - I love her challenge because with one single digi you purchase, you can get many, many more free only by entering her challenge every month. But let's go back to the card: I die cut a scalloped square from red cardstock and also cut a piece of white paper to fit in between the faux-stitched lines. I added a light layer of green ink to the bottom and blue to the top to give the panda a lovely place to sit.

Afterwards I stamped the sentiment to the upper right corner, glued everything together and added the mini hearts I had die cut from the same red paper as the square. I hope you like my card and I would love to see your creations in our gallery. Have a wonderful week with many hours of sunshine and happy crafting, yours Maike ;o)

Warmest Wishes from Flurry and Chilly (POD)

Halli Hallo ihr Lieben!
Ich bin ein bisschen spät dran mit meiner Inspirationskarte für die "Schneemann" Challenge bei Challenge Up Your Life, aber hier ist sie nun:

Heya my dear crafty friends!
I am a bit late to the party for the new challenge at Challenge Up Your Life, but at least I made it now. The theme is "Snowman" and this is my inspiration card:

First I die cut the square, masked the bottom part below the stitched line and then stamped the bigger one of the snowmen. After I masked him as well I stamped the second, smaller snowman as well. The whole scene was coloured with Copic markers.

My next step was to emboss some snowflakes on the card base and to glue the square on using foam tape. As usual I had forgotten to plan ahead as dar as the placing of the sentiment goes ;o) Typical for me... Ah well, luckily I found a spot between some embossed snowflakes that was big enough for my chosen sentiment. Because I felt that the card was too plain I got out some colours of Nuvo Drops and added some drops around the panel and the sentiment to give it more interest. Lastly I added Wink of Stella to all of the snow areas to give the snowmen that frosty shimmer. I case you haven't put all of your snowmen stamps away (and even if you did...) we would love to see your creations in our gallery at Challenge Up Your Life. Have a wonderful and creative weekend! Happy crafting from your Maike

Keep Swimming (Embossing Wet AND Dry)

Hallo meine Lieben!

Heya my dear crafty friends!
I hope you all had a great, cozy and creative time between Christmas and now ;o) My craft desk hadn't seen me in quite a long time, because we already got to celebrate three birthdays this year. Have you had time to get creative in 2018 yet? For the new task "Embossingfolder" at Challenge Up Your Life which starts today I got some old and new goodies out yesterday to create an inspiration card for you:

I started by creating the background with Distress Oxide Inks. For the sky I have used the colours Fossilized Amber and Picked Raspberry, for the water Peacock Feathers. After the ink had dried I added some cloud texture to the sky with an embossing folder and also the bubbles for the water area using a stencil and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink.

Next I added the critters using embossing powder for all but the tiny ones in the upper right corner. I love how the jelly fish and the silver one turned out, but I am always disappointed when I compare the yellow powder to its end result. Have you any suggestions for a really opaque yellow embossing powder? I would love to hear what you use ;o)

My last steps were to stamps the sentiment and accentuate it with the fun enamel arrows by Create a Smile. After I glued the piece to the card base I also added some glitter to the clouds to set them off a bit more. So, that was my card for today, my friends! I do love the look of dry embossing - even though I have heard rumors it isn't the most fashionable technique right now *grin - and I would love to see what you create using your folders. Have a wonderful weekend and happy crafting, yours Maike ;o)

Heya my dear creative friends ;o)
Last weekend I had the privilege and pleasure to meet some awesome crafters and spend three days in a cloister with them. We had our very own seminar- / craft- / chatroom and were able to talk face to face without the need of a phone and keypad. It was really fabulous spending time with so many kind, creative and fun people. The lovely Christine from Create A Smile brought a few of her newest stamps and stencils for us to try out and I immediately fell in love with the Christmas monsters. (Just as well, seeing I know many people who aren't overly keen on the holidays...) This is what I made with it:

For the tag I have covered a piece of paper with a Gilding Polish Paste, let it dry for a bit and then sent it through the Big Shot with an embossing folder. The result is phenomenal ;o) As always it doesn't really show in the picture, but if you love shimmer and shine you must try this, believe me ;o)

Happy crafting, eure Maike ;o))

The Create A Smile Release will be available as of today and there are so many different new things. Why not hop over and have a look ;o) Click here to get to Christines site... I hope you liked this card, even though it is a bit different for me. Have a wonderful Friday everyone and enjoy your weekend! Happy crafting, yours Maike ;o))

Happy Birthday Birka - Happy Crafty Girls Blog Hop

Heya my dear crafty friends!
Today is a very special day: It is Birka's birthday. Some of you may know her and her awesome cards from her Blog "Mit Herz und Schere" or her Instagram account "Biiirka". Through her I got to know sooo many lovely, talented and wonderful people and we all thought / think that she deserves a huge Thank You and an spectacular surprise for it. Birka absolutely loves pink which is why we all created a pink card for her and organised this Blog-Hop for her and you of course ;o) This is the card I created for her:

Hier findet ihr die Hopser-Reihenfolge:
Here you find the links to all stops from the hop:

Maike (Maikreations) --> Du bist hier / You are here

Und hier schon mal ein kleines Schmankerl für die Augen / And this is a preview for you of what we have in store for you:

And the best thing about it is, that you can join in with the fun! ;o) How? That's easy: Hop to our blog and link up your pink birthday card for Birka. We have 11 generous sponsors who are giving away awesome prizes and you can also win a very exclusive cling stamp set with hand-drawn images by some of our drawing-talented Happy Crafty Friends ;o) But have a look yourself: click!

In case you are wondering how I made my card, here is a short recipe: I created the background using the awesome Embossing Mousses by Nuvo in Peony Pink and Pink Flame. The mousse can be used in many ways, dries super fast and has this brilliant metallic sheen when it is dry (which I hope you can guess from the pictures...). After everything was dry I die cut the round window from the paper and also embossed it with some cute birthday-words. The stamps I used are mostly from the set that you could win ;o)

It would be brilliant if you would make the surprise even bigger for Birka by creating a pink birthday and linking it to our Happy Crafty Friends blog. This would also be the way to win one of the prizes of our eleven sponsors ;o))) *just saying ;o) So start creating everyone, maybe after you lifted a glass of Prosecco or something like it to our dear birthday girl Birka!

Have an awesome weekend and happy crafting ;o) Yours Maike

Happy Birthday card for a dog lover ;o)

Heya my dear friends!
"Cats and Dogs" are the new challenge theme over at Challenge Up Your Life. If you know my blog, you will certainly have anticipated that I'd be using cats, am I right? But because I tend to use my cat stmaps far more often than any others anyways I thought I would use the cute dogs this time.;o)

I started by colouring the scene with the dogs. I imagined them being in their favourite park and taking a group picture for their friend whose birthday is coming up. Sometimes I do think strange things ;o) Next I die cut the polaroid frame from patterned paper and also one from black. That way I could die cut it again with a square die and have the perfect size and kept those slightly rounded edges on the inside.

Next I white embossed the sentiment on a red strip of cardstock and cut both ends to an angle. After I assembled all the pieces I glued them to a card base that I had stuck a dry embossed piece of white paper on. I love those really cute folders by Taylored Expressions. I just wished they (and many other companies) would design their folders so that you could insert your top-folding cardbase and dry emboss that, rather than having to use yet another piece of paper stuck onto your card. I have only ever see that with Stampin Up folders I think. Do you know any other manufactures that make them that way?

I am really happy about how this card turned out. It is a male card without using blues or greys and omitting my cute critters. (You might have guessed, that I am in desperate need of some male birthday cards *grin) Happy crafting, everyone ;o)

Nun aber zu meiner Karte:

Merry Christmas, everyone!
I would like to wish you a wonderful Christmas amongst those near to your heart, a quiet, happy, relaxing, exciting merry time together and all the very best! When I started planning for my first Christmas cards back in August (!) Christmas seemed so very far away, but today is the day I am showing you the last card of my second Christmas series... One last time I would like to remind you, that I have a giveaway for a $25 gift certificate to a crafty online store of your choice. You can still participate until the 26th of December 2016 - I will announce the winner on the following day. (You can find all the information about the giveaway here.) But now, lets have a look at the card:

I used an embossing folder to create a nice texture on the green panel I had die cut previously and coloured all the berries red. Next I stamped the cute images by Purple Onion Designs and a holly berry from a Lawn Fawn set. I used Distress Inks to colour them in and after they dried I fussy cut them out.

Next I die cut a circle from red cardstock, stamped the sentiment and Versamark and white heat embossed it. I don't know about you, but even though I have seen the process happening at leat a hundred times by now, it still amazes me when it goes from powder to a nice smooth finish ;o) All that was left to do now was to assemble everything on the cardbase (I used foam tape behind the circle piece and behind the critters heads to give them the same hight) and to round the top corners with my corner chomper.

I hope that you and your loved ones will have a fun, awesome, peaceful, exciting, relaxing, healthy and merry Christmas. I hope to see you here again in three days time (maybe even before that?) when I get to announce the winner of my giveaway ;o) I wish you all the very best, yours Maike!!!

Christmas Series Card # 20 / Weihnachtsserie Karte # 20 (Yeti For Christmas?)

Heya my dear crafty friends!
Today I would like to share my inspiration card for the newest Crafty Cardmakers challenge with you. It is a card with one of the Yetis again, but as the new theme is "Non Traditional Christmas" I thought these cute tousled forrest-creatures were just about perfect ;o) What do you think?

I started by die cutting the scalloped frame from some white paper and die cut a circle window from it as well as send it through my Big Shot with an embossing folder by We R Memory Keepers. I think this pattern looks a lot like an ice structure and so I thought it would work really well with the image I had planned on using.

I stamped the Yeti on a piece of watercolor paper that was just a bit bigger than the window and coloured it with Distress Inks. I have seen so many pictures of wonderfully soft colourations, but I think I might keep working on that particular look a bit more. I ended up with rather vibrant colours - oh well, I really love how it turned out, so no harm done ;o)

Next to the Yeti I drew a few trees, so that it looks like he stands on a clearing, and added some white to the tips of the trees to make it look like snow. I also added some white dots all around him and put some on him as well, because if it was snowing, he would have some flakes in front of him, too. After I glued the coloured piece and the frame to the card base I added a red banner with an embossed sentiment right below the window and a couple of glittery dots to give the white area a bit more interest. That finished off my card. I hope you like it and you are going to create your own non traditional Christmas project and share it with us at the Crafty Cardmakers! Have a great week, everyone ;o)
