Have a BERRY sweet birthday (mouse and snail)

Hello everyone,
today I am back with a brand new card for Papercraft Challenges. This time the theme was "Fruits, Food and Vegetables" and this is what I made:

When I was making this card I looked outside the window and saw a rainy grey outside and really craved for some warmth and most of all sunshine and spring. I think you might feel it when you look at the finished project. It is so bright and quirky and so much more "in your face" than my cards usually are... Looking back I would definately have put vellum behind the designer paper and my cover and also switched the papers for the "berry" part of the sentiment. However I still like how it turned out, but thought I should let you know what I would change if I were to make it again. ;o)

To create the card I started by stamping and colouring in a whole bunch of strawberries, because I wasn't sure how many I would need in the end. (Now I have around 10 of them left, so you might see some tiny strawberries again in future projects...) Next I stamped and coloured the cute mouse and the sweet snail and die cut the letters and the front cover. The latter was cut twice: once from white cardstock and another time from the same red cardstock I used as my card base. I adhered them together after I had trimmed of a tiny bit of both one short and one long side from the red cardstock. This way you get the shadowed effect very easily. The assembling of the letters and the straberries took a bit of time, but when I was happy with the placement I stamped the rest of the sentiment and also adhered the two critters. I hope you like the card and even more so that you will play along with us at Papercraft Challenges this time! Have a lovely day and happy crafting my friends! Yours Maike

Warme Grüße (Warm greetings - Walrus)

Heya everyone!
I hope you are enjoying a lovely, lazy, sunny, funny Sunday! Today I am back with an inspiration card for the newest Papercraft Challenges theme. This time we would like to see "Selfmade Backgrounds" in your projects. The DT have so many differents examples to share, you really should risk a peek ;o) This is my piece:

I created a wintery background using the Tambai watercolours and after it had dried completely I embossed the snow flakes over top. For that I used a stencil by Create A Smile and dabbed the Versamark ink pad right over it. Worked like a charm!

I die cut the paper with a scalloped die and also die cut a piece of white felt to represent the snowy ground. The cute walrus is a digi by our kind sponsor Dr. Digis and you could win 2 digis from them if you participate in our challenge. This one is a really great image to colour, because it consists of many large areas and also a walrus had smooth looking skin, so there is no need to create fluffiness which for me makes it a lot easier to colour ;o) I hope you are going to join in the fun and that I will get to see your creation in our gallery! Have a wonderful Sunday and happy crafting,
yours Maike

Squirrel having a pile of fun

Heya everyone,
so glad to see you here in my little part of Blogland ;o) Today we are starting a new challenge over at Papercraft Challenges. This time the theme is "Autumn Colours" and the winner will get a little surprise in addition to all the fun ;o) This is my take on the theme:

For this card I used the cute images by MFT stamps and started with stamping the pile of leaves on the already prepared background and quickly coloured in all the leaves in different colours and the "inside" of the pile in a dark green. It could either be that the inside of the pile is quite dark or that you can still see some grass underneath all the leaves.

Next I stamped the squirrel and some extra leaves and coloured them in using my Copic markers again. This time I made sure I had a lot of contrast and depth to what I coloured. After that was done I die cut the frame and stamped the sentiment right next to the edge of the inside of the frame, placed the squirrel where I thought it looked best and then scattered some of the leaves around to make it look like the suirrel had just jumped into the pile of fun ;o) I hope you like the card and that you are going to join us in our "Autumn Colours" gallery. I would love to see what you create! Have a wonderful and cozy Autumn time, stay safe and happy crafting everyone, yours Maike ;o)

Wish big - dragon

Hello everyone ;o)
Today I would like to share a card with you that I have created as an inspiration for the newest "Papercraft Challenge". Our theme is "Phantasy" and our kind sponsor "Dr. Digi" is offering two digi stamps to the winner ;o) I love dragons on cards so I thought I'd use the cute "In a flap" digi to create one for today:

I created the background with some blending brushes and Distress Inks in "Wilted Violet", "Pink Raspberry" and "Squeezed Lemonade". I wanted the dragon to have a lovely sky to fly in and be happy ;o)

Next I die cut a frame for the scene, but because I wanted the frame to be smaller than the background paper I die cut it with a simple stitched rectangle. To finish the card I stamped the sentiment a few times in the deepest black ink I own and added the wonderful glittery stars.

I hope you are going to have a wonderful day and that you will have the time and the inspiration now as well to dig through your stamps and create a phantastic card ;o) and join us at Papercraft Challenges! Happy crafting everyone, yours Maike

Easter card using the Magic Iris

Hello everyone!
I am soooo, so late with this post, but life pushed itself between me and my blog the last week, but here it comes. This is my card for this months Papercraft Challenge with an "Easter" theme:

I created my very first card with the Magic Iris die by Lawn Fawn and have to say I am in love! Once I got the hang of it I created this card very quickly.

The only thing I am a little unhappy about is that I would have needed to use a double layer of foam tape around the mechanism which I didn't and so the paper bends down towards the edges a little. However, next time I won`t make that mistake again and I do like the card very much. It was so much fun playing with it and having the cute chick revealed ;o)

I hope you are going to show us your crafty "Easter" themed projects in our gallery! Until then please take care and happy, happy crafting ;o) Yours Maike

Frohe Weihnachten (Bunny in the Snow)

Hello everyone
and welcome to our first Papercraft Challenge of the year. We have decided to run the challenge monthly now to give you even more time to create a project and share your talent with us. The new theme is "Use at Least 2 Designer Papers", which is always a real challenge for me, but also perfect, because (after tidying up my craft room over the Christmas break and realizing just how much paper I really own - way too much let me tell you-) I vowed to start using more patterned paper on my cards and this was my first attempt of that:

Yes, okay, they are very subtle patterns, but a girl has to start somewhere, doesn't she??? ;o) I love this little bunny by Hello Bluebird having fun in the snow. I used the white frame to put a focus on the little scene and also to have enough space between the scene and the pattern if that makes sense... The lovely red die cut which means Christmas in German is by Create a Smile and was just perfect for this card.

I hope you are going to join us for our "Use at Least 2 Designer Papers" challenge and maybe I find new ways to combine papers to be able to use more of the lovely papers I have neatly stashed away in my craft room ;o) Have a lovely week everyone and happy crafting, yours Maike

Magical Birthday Wishes

Hello everyone!
With the theme being "Fantasy" for the new Papercraft Challenge I decided on using this "Sweet Dragon" image and the "Blank Book" by "A Day For Daisies" who are sponsoring a $8 prize for their online store. This is the card I made with the two images combined:

I love giving books for birthdays (to people who love to read) and my favourite genre is fantasy, so i thought it would be a perfect opportunity to create a card for such an event. The background was made using Distress Inks and a lovely stencil by Tim Holtz.

After stamping the sentiment I added a few drop of glitter glue to some of the bubbles and my card was done! I hope you are going to join us with a "Fantasy" project as well. Have a fantastic and hopefully sunny week my lovely crafty friends! Happy crafting, yours Maike

You arrrrr amazing (Pirat & Mermaid)

Heya my dear crafty friends!
As promised here is the second card I am sharing today. This time as an inspiration for the new challenge theme "Children" at Papercraft-Challenges:

First I started with creating the background. I used Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in two different shades of blue more or less evenly on a whole piece of white paper and let it dry for a few minutes. Next I used those same colours again but also used a stencil to get the awesome pattern plus the shimmer and shine from the mousse ;o) This piece was left to dry as well. Usually when I create backgrounds of the messier kind I try to create a piece so big that I will get at least two background pieces from it. That way - to me - it is worth the fuss and all the cleaning plus I have another great piece ready when I need something like this again the next time. ;o)

Next I stamped, coloured and die cut all the other elements I needed to create the scene I had in mind. I also coloured a piece of paper with Copics to create a woodplank background for the little pirate girl.  It isn't often that images from different companies (especially "people" images") go together so well as these and maybe it is just the perspective of the scene that they do, but I just love the look of them together. I hope you are going to join us with a "Children" card of your own ;o) Have an awesome week and happy crafting, yours Maike ;o)

What?! Trifold-Card

Heya my dear crafty friends
and welcome to the second post for today ;o) The new theme at Papercraft Challenges is "Trifold" and I would like to share my inspiration card with you. Our kind sponsor "Sprinkle N Sparkle" has got this image of a funny crazy bird and it just had to be part of my card and several time at that. But have a look yourself:

I kept the front of the card deliberately simple. The white frame around the window draws more attention to it and the image you see and the yellow letters are the first part of the sentiment.

When you open the card, however, I hope that simple is not the word that comes to mind ;o) I love those birds in rainbow colours; how shocked they look about the recipients age *grin... I pictured them to be a choire, so after counting to three....

they start singing "Happy Birthday" ;o) I created the floor using Simon Says Stamp "Fog Ink" and the "Modern Triangles" stencil by Neat and Tangled. For the walls I chose to add "Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink" using one of the fabulous Clarity Stamp brushes which I really, really love! I hope you like my card and that you are going to join us with your "Trifold" creation ;o) Have a great day and happy crafting, yours Maike

Heya my dear friends!
Lovely to see you here ;o) And it is a non-Christmas card for a change, because the Cards und More blog is celebrating the 200th challenge with the new theme "birthday". This is my inspiration card:

It is a very fitting theme as well, because this challenge will be the first of a new blog. The Cards und More blog was once one that was connected to the Cards und More shop, but not for the last three years. So this will be the first challenge of the new blog called "Papercraft Challenges"
https://papercraft-challenges.blogspot.de/

But not on to my card. I needed a male birthday card so this challenge theme was perfect. I used a dog from the "Christmas Puppies" set by Gerda Steiner Designs, but as you can see it is also perfect for non-Christmas cards as well. Because there are stars on the bag that the dog is sitting in I used stars as embellishments and mainly used the colours yellow and turquoise.

Why don't you hop on over to our new blog. Maybe you know someone who's birthday is soon, then this first ever challenge of the Papercraft Challenge blog might be just the right inspiration to get crafty ;o) Have a wonderful week and happy crafting, yours Maike
