Have A Hoot

Hello everyone!

We have a new PINspirational challenge for you:

First I wanted to go with a black and white card, but then I found the cute owl stamp by Cats on Appletrees and thought it would be the perfect image for this task. I "sat" the two birds on one of the stamped watercolour stripes and also gave them a balloon to hold to make it more of a birthday card image. 

Next I stamped the background and added the sentiment "have a HOOT" to go with the owls. That was it - a really nice and simple card, but I like that it would work with different colours and that it would be easy to reproduce if necessary.

With this picture at PINspirational Challenges we would like to inspire you to get creative:

Ich habe mich dazu entschieden den "Versuch etwas Neues"- Teil als Inspiration für meine Karte zu nutzen und  habe dazu eine ganze Menge Pink benutzt, auf Colorieren komplett verzichtet (das war der schwierigste Part) und habe die Fische mit Wackelaugen aufgepeppt, die sonst auch nur selten bei mir zum Einsatz kommen. Ich hoffe, euch gefällt die Karte trotzdem, obwohl ich mich bemüht habe, ganz Vieles anders zu machen als sonst ;o)

I decided to go with the "Try something different" part and used a lot of pink, didn't do any colouring for this card and also used googely eyes on the fish which I rarely do. I hope you still like the card even though I tried a lot of new things ;o)

Heute startet bei den Crafty Cardmakers eine neue Challenge mit dem Thema "Geburtstag". Ein gutes Thema wie ich finde, weil man nie genug Geburtstagskarten haben kann, aber ich glaube, das habe ich schon oft gesagt ;o)

Today is the start of a new challenge at the Crafty Cardmakers. This time we would like to see "Birthday" projects. I think it is a brilliant theme, because I can never have enough birthday cards in my stash ;o)

Als erstes habe ich den Hintergrund für meine süßen, bannerhaltenden Pandabären gemacht. Dazu habe ich aus einem großen Stück Maskingpapier die Kuppelform ausgestanzt und das, was übrig geblieben ist als Maske auf mein Panel geklebt. Benutzt habe ich Distress Oxide Inks in den Farben Twisted Citron und Salty Ocean. Um noch ein bisschen mehr Farbe ins Spiel zu bringen habe ich noch die kleine abstrakte Blume mehrfach in gelbgrün und pink gestempelt.

First I created a backdrop for the two cute pandas holding the banner. I die cut the dome shape from a large piece of masking paper and used Distress Oxide Inks in Twisted Citron and Salty Ocean to create the background for them. In order to give a bit more interest to the card front itself I added many little abstract flower images.

Als nächstes habe ich drei Ballons für die Szene gestempelt und genauso wie die Pandas mit Copics coloriert. Die ganze Szene wirkte ohne die Farbkleckse der Ballons irgendwie zu platt und langweilig - so gefällt es mir aber richtig gut. Um die strahlenden Farben noch mehr zu unterstreichen habe ich mich dieses Mal für eine schwarze Kartenbasis entschieden. Falls ihr öfter auf meinem Blog unterwegs seid, wisst ihr sicherlich, dass ich mich doch meistens für eine weiße Kartenbasis entscheide - zu den Pandas und dem Pink fand ich, passte das Schwarz aber einfach genial und macht die Karte irgendwie moderner? Um das viele Schwarz im Inneren der Karte aber nicht Überhand nehmen zu lassen, habe ich auch innen ein weißes Panel aufgeklebt und sowohl den Panda als Motiv, als auch das Pink noch einmal aufgenommen.

Next I coloured and added three balloons to the scene, because the top still felt a little empty and also added the birthday die cut. I chose a black card base this time, because I thought it would emphasize all the bright colours as well as the pandas well. I think it works out great - what do you think? To break up the black a little though I added the white line around my panel and also decorated the inside with a bit of colour as well.

Heute gibt es mal wieder eine - wie ich finde - untypische Karte für mich ;o) Aber seht selbst:

Today I'd like to share a new card with you. One that looks different than my usual cards I think, but have a look yourself:

Die Karte ist mit dem Inspirationsbild der neusten Herausforderung auf dem Challenge Up Your Life Blog im Hinterkopf entstanden:

This card was made with the inspiration picture of the newest task over at Challenge Up Your Life in mind. This is the picture:

Meine Idee hinter der Karte war, dass einer der beiden Katzenfreunde den anderen kurz vor Mitternacht an seinem Geburtstag besucht und ihm draußen bereits die Ballons überreicht - so ist dann auch die weitere Idee für die Gestaltung der Innenseite entstanden. Jetzt bekommt ihr mal einen kurzen Einblick, was in meinem Kopf passiert, wenn ich Stempel kombiniere ;o)))) Außen habe ich die Ballons klar drüber embossed, aber das Pulver ist total "tropfig" geschmolzen... Ist euch das auch schon mal passiert? Wisst ihr, was ich verkehrt gemacht haben könnte? Würde mich sehr über euren Input freuen, denn ich weiß überhaupt nicht, was da schief gegangen sein könnte.

My idea behind this card was, that one of the cats visits its friend at midnight on their birthday to bring them the bunch of colourful balloons - and next came the second idea to stamp on the inside as well as if they were inside now where it is light. And this was just a very short glimpse inside my head while I am combining stamps and thinking of strange stories for the scenes ;o)))) I covered the balloons on the outside with clear embossing powder and when I put my heat gun to it, it heated up in little droplets for some reason... I have never had that happen before, have you? Or do you know what I could have done wrong? I would love to hear from you, if you have an idea, because I really do not know what went wrong there.

Bei Sommer fällt mir als erstes immer der Strand und damit das Schnorcheln und die Fischlies ein, die man dann sieht. Sommer ist auch das neue Thema bei Challenge Up Your Life und als Inspiration habe ich diese Karte gewerkelt:

When I think of summer I instantly think of the sea and snorkeling and also those fishies you can see when you are enjoying your time under water. Summer is the new challenge at Challenge Up Your Life and I made this card as an inspiration:

Die Polaroidbilder habe ich dank der tollen Stanzen und eines Papierrests, auf dem ich bereits einen blauen Hintergrund mit Distress Inks gewischt hatte recht schnell gewerkelt bekommen. ;o) Die Fische sind aus einem Avery Elle Set und obwohl es ein kleines mit nur 3 Bildern ist, habe ich es schon oft benutzt. (Ein Beispiel hab ich auch noch hier auf meinem Blog: klick ;o)

The polaroids were really quick to make, thank to those great dies I used and a piece of blended blue background I had still somewhere on my desk :o) The fish are from a set by Avery Elle and though it is a small one I think it is very versatile and I have used it many times. (If you like them check another card with these images click here ;o)

Den Hintergrund für die Karte wollte ich dieses Mal ein wenig anders gestalten und habe daher zu den megasüßen Cats on Appletrees - Stempeln gegriffen, die ich toll finde, aber irgendwie schlecht auf Karten verwenden kann. Jetzt weiß ich wie ich es hinkriege ;o))) Zum Schluss habe ich meiner neuen Sucht gefrönt (ich meine natürlich die Nuvo drops) und ein paar Blubberbläschen hinzugefügt. Ich hoffe, die Karte gefällt euch und ihr habt Spaß bekommen an unserer Sommer-Challenge teilzunehmen. Kleine Zusatz-Inspiration falls ihr grad auch unter herbstlichem Augustwetter leidet: Man kann sich mit dem Thema die Sonne und Urlaubsfeeling auf den Schreibtisch holen ;o) Bei mir hats zumindest geklappt und bei euch tut es das sicherlich auch ;o))) Habt ein wunderbares Wochenende und happy crafting, eure Maike

The background of the card looks a bit different than my backgrounds usually look, because I wanted to use some of my uber-cute Cats-on-Appletrees stamps, which I absolutely adore but I do have a hard time using them on cards for some reason. However I found that they make a fabulous backdrop, don't you think? ;o) When my card was finished I needed to add some more Nuvo drops as air bubbles to get that tiny bit of dimension that makes me so happy on a handmade card ;o) I hope you like my card and that you feel inspired to play along. As a little extra inspiration in case you are suffering because of autumnal weather in August as we do where I live, let me tell you that creating a summer card really helped me to find a little sunshine and holiday feeling right there at my desk ;o) Have a wonderful weekend, everyone and happy crafting, yours Maike

Christmas Series Card # 11 / Weihnachtsserie Karte # 11 (Walter & Frost)

Heute möchte ich mit euch die nächste Karte meiner Weihnachtsserie mit euch teilen. Die beiden Pinguine sind von Purple Onions Designs und auch die "Winter Big Scripty Words" sind wieder dabei:

Today I would like to share the next card from my Christmas Series with you. I have used these cute penguin images by Purple Onion Designs and the "Winter Big Scripty Words" are also part of the card again.

Die Pinguine habe ich mit Copics coloriert und dann ausgeschnitten. Als nächstes habe ich die "Schneeflocken" mit weißer Farbe auf roten Cardstock gestempelt und ihn nach dem Trocknen ausgestanzt. (Weiße Farbe lasse ich mittlerweile grundsätzlich über Nacht trocknen, weil ich mir schon viel zu oft einen weißen Abdruck verschmiert habe, wenn ich zu ungeduldig war.)

I coloured the penguins with Copic markers and fussy cut them out. Next I stamped the "snowflakes" with white ink on red cardstock and die cut the rectangle from it, after everything had dried. (I have learned to let it sit over night, because if I touch the ink too early it will smeer and probably ruin my project. Unfortunately it has happened often and I had to learn to be patient the hard way.)

Aus dem roten Rechteck habe ich den Schriftzug "be merry" ausgestanzt, ihn dann aus weißem Cardstock erneut ausgestanzt und den Spruch in rot aufgestempelt. Als nächstes habe ich ein dünnes Stück Papier so zurechtgeschnitten, dass es ein bisschen größer war als das "Loch" im roten Cardstock und es komplett (!) mit Kleber bedeckt. Ich nutze dafür meinen ganz normalen Snailkleber. Dann klebt man es hinter die Lücke und kann nun die einzelnen Teile schnell an der richtigen Stelle aufkleben. Sogar die ganz kleinen Teile sind kein Problem mehr, wenn man wirklich drauf achtet keine Lücken im Kleber zu haben und man sie natürlich noch wiederfindet... ähem... da muss ich immer ganz besonders aufpassen...

I die cut the "be merry" sentiment from the red cardstock and once more from white as well and stamped the words on it in red. Next I took a thin piece of paper, cut it a bit larger than the sentiment and covered it completely (!) in snail adhesive. This way it is much easier to fit everything into the designated place again without having to try to put adhesive on a mini tiny piece of paper. It works great if you made sure not to have any holes between the adhesive and if you made sure that you can find all the pieces again when you need them.

Zum Schluss habe ich dann das Rechteck auf die Kartenbasis geklebt und die Pinguine drum herum verteilt. Ich find die beiden ja wirklich einfach nur herrlich und hoffe, sie gefallen euch auch! Habt ein schönes Wochenende und bis bald, eure

To finish the card I glued the completed rectangle directly to the card base and added the penguins with foam tape. I think these two are just too cute and I hope you like them, too! Have a wonderful weekend everyone, yours
