Have a BERRY sweet birthday (mouse and snail)

Hello everyone,
today I am back with a brand new card for Papercraft Challenges. This time the theme was "Fruits, Food and Vegetables" and this is what I made:

When I was making this card I looked outside the window and saw a rainy grey outside and really craved for some warmth and most of all sunshine and spring. I think you might feel it when you look at the finished project. It is so bright and quirky and so much more "in your face" than my cards usually are... Looking back I would definately have put vellum behind the designer paper and my cover and also switched the papers for the "berry" part of the sentiment. However I still like how it turned out, but thought I should let you know what I would change if I were to make it again. ;o)

To create the card I started by stamping and colouring in a whole bunch of strawberries, because I wasn't sure how many I would need in the end. (Now I have around 10 of them left, so you might see some tiny strawberries again in future projects...) Next I stamped and coloured the cute mouse and the sweet snail and die cut the letters and the front cover. The latter was cut twice: once from white cardstock and another time from the same red cardstock I used as my card base. I adhered them together after I had trimmed of a tiny bit of both one short and one long side from the red cardstock. This way you get the shadowed effect very easily. The assembling of the letters and the straberries took a bit of time, but when I was happy with the placement I stamped the rest of the sentiment and also adhered the two critters. I hope you like the card and even more so that you will play along with us at Papercraft Challenges this time! Have a lovely day and happy crafting my friends! Yours Maike

Boo to You ;o)

Heya everyone ;o)
Good to see you today for another challenge over at the PINspirational Challenge blog. This is our inspiration picture for you:

I love this picture as inspiration because there is so much to choose from. The theme for once and also all the different elements. I chose the ghosts and also the theme as my inspiration. The ghosts are from a set by Hello Bluebird. Tey were stamped on a piece of vellum and then heat embossed, because I  wanted to have the outline show in white. Next I backed the entire piece of vellum with Stick It! adhesive before I fussy cut them all out.

Only the things they were holding or wearing were stamped on Copic friendly paper and I coloured them in. I placed the die cut stars from a cover up die by Your Next Stamp on an orange card base, coloured in the stitched lines with a white gel pen and then placed the little ghosts, making sure you could see their eyes. Next I freehanded two little spiders into my design and added the sentiment. I hope you like my card and that you will join us for this challenge. It will be the last on the PINspirational Chalenge blog for a few month, so it would be really nice to have a gallery brimming with fabulous ideas this time. Have a wonderful week and happy crafting my dear friends! Sending you all a virtual hug, yours Maike

Sending Smiles - turtle

Hello everyone!
In these crazy times I quite like that making a card still fills me with the same joy and calm, so I am very happy to share a new card with you today:

I made it as an inspiration card for our newest challenge over at the Crafty Cardmakers. The theme this time is "Spring" and I love to see all the bees and butterflies coming back to our garden, so I thought I would use this cute image by Gerda Steiner Designs.

I die cut a somewhat flower-shape from the patterned paper I had chosen and also die cut a frame to go around that opening. Next I heat-embossed some butterflies on a light blue piece of paper and glued that on a the front of a card base. I place the tortoise on a strip of paper on which I had stamped the greeting and then adhered averything on top of the blue piece with foam tape. Three tiny butterflies in a deeper shade of pink were added as an afterthought to give a bit more interest to the background. I hope you are going to join us in our challenge and create something that makes your heart smile! Please take care and happy crafting, Maike

Be Jolly penguin

Heya everyone!
Today I would like to share my inspiration card for the newest challenge at the Papercraft Challenge. The theme is "Winterfun" and I sure hope the little penguin on my card likes ice-skating:

I die cut the frame twice for this card from differently coloured cardstocks and coloured the outside edges of the inside pieces to introduce a third colour as well and added some white sprinkles to them as well.

I adhered those pieces to a white cardbase and added a lot of glittery white snowflakes and the white embossed sentiment on red cardstock. The combination of red, blue and white always works well, don't you think so too? My little penguin was adhered last, because I wasn't sure if I wanted it raised or not, but in the end I decided to glue it directly to the paper for mailing purposes ;o) I hope you are going to join us with some "Winterfun" as well and will share your talent with us in our gallery! Have a great week everyone and happy crafting! Yours Maike

Soaring by to say (bird)

 Heya everybody,
so glad to see you on the blog! Today I would like to share my card with you that I have made as an inspiration for the newest PINspirational challenge. This is the current inspiration picture:

I decided to have a look through my stamps and find a bird-stamp I would like to use and I have always liked this rather large image by Your Next Stamp, so I went with that cute parrot. I die cut the frame and used a stencil by My Favorite Things to add some light pink clouds to the inside piece to give it a bit more interest and also added some fine sprinkles.

I stamped the sentiment twice, once on the white paper and a second time on the pink, because I wanted to layer them. Unfortunately it is not as noticable as I had hope - but it is still always worth it trying something new, don't you think? Is there a technique or anything you have tried in card making lately that has surprised you? I would love to see one of your projects in our gallery as well, so why not snoop through your stamps as I have done? It really was fun ;o))) Have a lovely day and happy crafting everyone, yours Maike

Beary Happy Birthday!

Hello everyone ;o)
I am back with a new card for the "Dies or Punches" challenge over at the Crafty Cardmakers blog:

For my card I used three different kinds of dies: the panel die, a letter / sentiment die and a letter / banner die. In my head I had pictured something fun and colourful so I started by creating the background paper. I have used Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers and Fozzilized Amber and blended them together to get a kind of ombre background and splattered it with water to get these fun drops in the background.

Once the background was dry I glued it to a card base and added the panel die-cut on top. The bear fit perfectly size- and themewise for what I had in mind, so I took out my Zig markers and coloured it in.

Once I had the bear adhered I added the sentiment. I always loved the banner letters and thought they would be perfect for this challenge, so I spelled "beary" with it and finished the sentiment with a die-cut "Happy" and a stamped "birthday". I hope you are going to join us for our challenge at the Crafty Cardmakers! Happy crafting, everyone ;o))) Maike

Have a happy colourful birthday!

Heya my friends!
This card is for the current Papercraft Challenge. We would like to see some "Stars" on your project and as you can see there are loads of them on my card ;o)))

I have ink blended a background using Oxide Inks in Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Melonade and Peacock Feather to get all these beautiful colours. The die and the super cute chameleon are from Your Next Stamp and I love them both ;o)

I have used a sentiment stamp from the set but added the "Happy" on pink from a different set, because I love a vivid green combined with pink. I hope you are going to join us for our "Stars" challenge and I am looking forward to seeing your starry projects ;o) Have a wonderful day and happy crafting ;o) Yours Maike

Whaley Huge Birthday Wishes

Hello y'all ;o)
Yesterday we published a new task at the Crafty Cardmakers Challenge blog. We would like to see "Masculine" cards and projects. This is my inspiration card:

When you know some of my cards you'll see that this is a particularly "empty" one for my stile, but I really like it. The background was made quickly with two different shades of blue Oxide Inks (Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch) and spritzed with a few drops of water which i removed with a cloth almost immediately.

While the card base dried I coloured the whale with Copic markers in light blue shades, so it would be clearly visible against the background. Lastly I added the sentiment with Archival Jet Black Ink and the card was done. What do you think? Do you like a very CAS card once in a while?

I hope you are going to play along with our challenge and link your project to our gallery ;o) I also hope to see you soon and wish you a wonderful and crafty week! Yours Maike ;o)

Happy Birthday "Picture" card

Hello everyone!
For the new challenge at Papercraft Challenge we ask for "Ribbons" on your card or project. This is my inspiration for the theme:

I had one of these polaroid pictures prepared on my desk and thought it would be great to have the colours of the collar represented on the card with ribbons.

They help accent the sentiment as well I think. I didn't want the card to be too "empty" so I stencilled some stars on to the card base itself and after adhering the polaroid I also added loads of Nuvo drops to make it even more fun. I hope you are going to grab your ribbons and join us in this challenge! Have a wonderful week and happy crafting, yours Maike

I'm not Squidding

Heya my dear crafty friends!
If you have been looking for the new Challenge Up Your Life task last Saturday you might have noticed that there was no new task. This was due to our decision to make CUYL a monthly challenge so more of you get the chance to participate ;o) We hope you are as excited about the change as we are and dive right into our newest challenge themed "Vellum". This is the card I made as an inspiration:

I created a background using Copic refills in various shades of blue on some Yupo paper and I love the look of it. You can achieve such neat looks with alcohol inks that I can promise this won't be the last you'll get to see ;o) I ripped a piece of vellum to get the white looking edge, embossed the sentiment on it and glued it to the back of the Yupo paper so I wouldn't have to use any adhesives at the front. That way I didn't have to worry about the placement of the elements and could just go ahead and put them where I wanted them.

I have combined images from different companies on this card, because I thought they would nonetheless work perfectly together. What do you think? Well, I hope you will join us for this month' challenge and create something awesome with vellum ;o) Have a lovely weekend and happy crafting everybody!!!

Have a fairy nice day

Heya my dear crafty friends!
We have a new challenge for you at the Crafty Cardmakers. This time it is all about "Things With Wings". There is lots to choose from - more than I thought at first - and I finally decided on using a cute little fairy:

First I die cut the panel and also die cut the circles from it. I like the "ripped" look and can see myself using them a lot ;o) I stamped the greeting in "Tide Pool Ink" and also coloured the edges of the panel to give it a bit of definition.

Happy crafting, eure Maike

Next I created a background scene: a hill and some clouds in the sky as well as some flowers at the bottom. I added a dot of Nuvo Glitter Drops to the center of the flowers and placed a mushroom at the top of the hill for a bit of colour there. I put some foam tape on the back of the panel piece and placed it on top of the background. Lastly I added the fairy - which I had coloured with Copic markers - and scattered a few drops of clear and pink Nuvo Glitter Drops on the panel. It is very seldom that I go with a non-black sentiment, but this time I felt it would add to the soft feel of the card. Hope you like it and that you are going to play along with us ;o) Have a wonderful week and happy crafting, yours Maike

Congratulations (Flower bunny and cat)

Heya my dear crafty friends!
Today is the start to a new PINspirational challenge und this is the inspiration picture ;o)

For my card I focused on the colours of the inspiration picture as well as on the flowers, which is why I chose the cute critters holding the flowers in their paws as the focal images of the card. The background was made using Distress Oxide Inks in Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn as well as Salty Ocean und Blueprint Sketch. After the ink had dried I stamped the butterflies with Versamark ink and used pink embossing powder.

I also heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock, because I felt I needed a piece in the sky with lots of contrast. Later I also added the second part of the sentiment to the bottom part of a hill and added a few drops of "Shocking Pink" Nuvo drops, because that part seemed a bit too empty for my taste. I hope you like my card and that our picture of the beautiful tulips will inspire you to make something beautiful as well. If you'd share it with us you have the chance to win a lovely prize from our kind sponsor "The Cutting Cafe" ;o) Have an amazing week everyone and happy crafting, yours Maike ;o)

Happy Dance Critters

Heya my dear crafty friends!
Let's "Go Green" for the new Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers, shall we? ;o) This is my take on the theme:

First I created the background piece with Nuvo Embellishment Paste in Citrus Green, Spring Green and a tiny bit of Teal. I mixed them together until I got the shade of green that I wanted and used a blending tool to get the paste on my paper and then set it aside to dry. Once it was completely dry I die cut a rectangle from the paper and the three windows from the rectangle. Next I used a "Next Level" Folder to emboss the metallic looking piece and really love the effect that gives.

I die cut the windows from some orange paper as well and covered two of them with glitter and adhered them to the apertures on the left and right, so that the colour of the critters, which I had coloured with Copics earlier, would pop even more. I used orange because it is the contrasting colour for / to (?) green. My sentiment is glued on rather than stamped on as usual this time and in order to guide the eyes a little I also added the tiny stars and my card was done. I hope you like it. If you do have an idea for our "Go Green" challenge I would love to see your project in our gallery ;o) Have a wonderful week and happy crafting, yours Maike ;o)

Have a Sweet Day

Halli Hallo meine Lieben!

Hello there my crafty friends!
"Sweets for my Sweet" is the theme of our newest Papercraft Challenge. I have had this cute bunny with its huge lillipop in my stash for quite some time now and finally I had the perfect opportunity for this sweety:

To start with I have used a piece of green cardstock for my background. With some "Lucky Clover" Distress Ink I darkened up the edges to give it more depth and also heat embossed this awesome background stamp from Create A Smile on top after it had all dried. In order to create a place for this cute bunny girl to sit I die cut a circle frame from white paper and glued vellum to the back of it. When I placed the bunny I placed her in a fashion that it looks like she is sitting on the rim of the frame if that makes sense...

My sentiment was partly stamped and partly created with letter stickers. I wanted the pink to appear a third time on the card (knowing that the eye likes groups of threes) and that for me is always easiest made with white alpha stickers that I can colour every colour I want. To finish the card I covered the lolli with glitter glue and added a white faux stitching line around the edge of the background paper. I hope you like my card and that I could possibly inspire you to play along with us. Dear Elisa has a surprise for the winner, so that would even be two reasons to play along ;o) Have a great rest of your week and happy crafting, yours Maike

Christmas Series Card #8 / Weihnachtsserie Karte #8 (Reindeer Gift)

Hello my dear crafty friends!
I hope you are having a great weekend and that you can even find some time to craft. In case you are looking for some Christmas card inspiration I'd say you've come to the right place ;o) This is part 8 of my Christmas series and it is also the third year in a row I am sharing 24+1 cards before Santa comes round for a visit ;o)

Todays card is kept rather plain and without too much coloring going on, so that it would be possible to mass produce the design... I really liked the combination of the tiny and the normal sized reindeer by Mama Elephant and this little guy holding the star is my absolute favourite, so it had to become part of this card ;o)

For the background I have used some lovely snow paper in red by Lawn Fawn which I framed at the top and bottom with the star border from YNS. The star banner at the top left corner enhances the theme of the card nicely and gives the sentiment a place to "sit" so to speak. I hope you liked this simple, but , as I think, quite darling card. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and happy crafting, yours Maike ;o)
