Auf dem Crafty Cardmakers Blog gibt es heute eine neue Challenge zum Thema "Zeit". Es war anfangs ein schwieriges Thema für mich, aber dann fiel mir ein, dass ein lieber Freund in den letzten Zügen seiner Doktorarbeit ist. Der Spruch passt klasse, weil er wirklich viel Zeit investiert hat und mit diesen Gedanken im Kopf ging mir die Karte deutlich leichter von der Hand.

We have a new challenge for you over at the Crafty Cardmakers blog and our theme is "time". It took me quite some time to figure out what I wanted to create, but then I thought of a friend of mine who is about to finish his doctoral dissertation after quite a lot of time of studies and research. With this thought in my head and a sentiment that I really liked making the card was a lot easier than I had anticipated.

 

Als erstes habe ich die Uhr mittig auf mein Papier gestempelt und anschließend Distress Inks in den Farben Salty Ocean und Picked Raspberries aufgepinselt. Nachdem die Farbe getrocknet war, habe ich die weißen und goldfarbenen Farbkleckse aufgesprenkelt und den inneren Teil der Uhr ausgeschnitten.

First I stamped the watch in the middle of my paper and brushed on Distress Inks in Salty Ocean and Picked Raspberries. After the ink was dry I flicked gold and white splatters on top and also cut out the inner part of the watch.

Zum Schluss habe ich den Spruch in Archival Black aufgestempelt, weil ich damit immer einen ganz guten Abdruck bekomme und habe dann das Papier mit Abstandshaltern auf die mit Uhren geprägte Kartenbasis geklebt.

Next I stamped the sentiment in Archival Black Ink and mounted it on top of the dry embossed card base using foam tape.

Ich wünsche euch einen wunderbaren Start ins Wochenende. Unser neues Thema auf dem Challenge Up Your Life Blog heißt "Rahmen" und ich hoffe, dass ihr ganz kräftig mitspielen werdet. Dies ist meine Isspirationskarte für euch:

I hope you are going to have a wonderful weekend. The new task at the Challenge Up Your Life blog is to create something that has to do with "frames" and I hope you are going to play along with us. This is my inspiration card:

Ich hab mich daran erinnert, dass ich diese geniale Rahmen-Stanze in meiner Sammlung habe und dachte, dass sie ideal zu dem Thema passt. Ich wollte eine CAS-Karte gestalten, aber mit starkem Kontrast (oder Wumms, wie man hier in unserem Haus sagen würde) und habe mich deshalb für das knallpinke Papier als Hintergrund für den Rahmen entschieden. Um dem Papier ein subtiles Muster zu geben und weil mich der Hase an einen erinnert, der von einem Zauberer aus dem Hut gezaubert wird, habe ich ein paar Sterne auf das Papier gestempelt. Dazu habe ich pinke Stempelfarbe benutzt, um einen Ton-in-Ton Look zu bekommen.

I remembered that I had this awesome frame-die in my stash and thought it would be perfect for this challenge. I wanted to create a CAS card, but with a lot of contrast, so I decided on this bright pink paper for the backdrop of the frame. To give it a bit more interest and because this bunny reminds me so much of a bunny that comes out of a wizard's hat I stamped some tone on tone stars on it.

Mit einem Fingerschwämmchen habe ich den Bereich um den Rahmen herum noch mit "Picked Rasberry" Distress Ink eingefärbt, bevor ich das Hasenbild aufgeklebt habe. Zuletzt habe ich dann noch den Aufhänger für den Rahmen hinzugefügt und den Kartenspruch gestempelt.

With the help of a finger dabber I coloured the area around the frame with "Picked Rasberry" Distress Ink, before adhering the frame with the bunny down. Last I added the hanger and also stamped the sentiment.

Stinkin' good New Year

Am letzten Tag des Jahres habe ich noch einmal passend eine "Happy New Year" Karte für euch! Irgendwie kam mir die englische Phrase "stinkin' cute" in den Kopf, als ich das süße Stinktier gesehen habe und über mehrerer Schleifen, Loopings und Ausflüge in Sackgassen in meinem Hirn ist letztendlich diese Karte entstanden:

On this very last day of this year I thought I would share anoter "Happy New Year" card with you, with a somewhat unusual sentiment ;o) When I saw this little skunk I thought of the phrase "stinkin' cute" and that led me to the saying on this card:

 Als erstes habe ich immer wieder das Wort "twentysixteen" (zwanzig-sechszehn) auf den Hintergrund gestempelt und es mit den "Wonky Stitches" ausgestanzt. Dann habe ich die Notizblockform zweimal ausgestanzt: einmal aus weißem und einmal aus silber-glitzerndem Papier ausgestanzt. Aus dem weißen Papier habe ich 2 Hügel gestanzt. Auf das schmalere Teil habe ich "New Year" gestempelt und es mit Abstandshaltern auf das silberne Papier geklebt.

I started with stamping the word "twentysixteen" repeatedly to the background piece and cut it out using the "Wonky Stitches" die. Next I die cut the memo pad paper shape from some white and also some silver glitter paper. I cut the white piece down with some stitched hill dies and glued them down on the glitter paper using foam tape for the bottom piece, after stamping the words "New Year".

Den erstes Teil vom Kartenspruch habe ich auf schwarzen Cardstock mit "Opaque Bright White" Embossing Pulver from WOW! embossed und die Enden zu Fähnchen zugeschnitten. Nun musste ich nur noch das süße Stinktier aufstempeln und colorieren und ein paar Glittersterne auf der Karte verteilen.

I heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock using "Opaque Bright White" embossing powder from WOW! and cut the ends into banner shapes. Now all that was left to do was to stamp and colour this cute skunk and also die cut some glittery stars to scatter them around the card.

Hallo zusammen!

Ich hoffe, ihr hattet bisher ein schönes Wochenende und seid entspannt in den Sonntag gestartet!!! Eine ganz liebe junge Dame namens Darcey hat in der letzten Woche die Schule gewechselt und dafür wollten wir ihr viel Glück und alles Gute wünschen. Daher hat sich bereits letzte Woche ein Päckchen mit diesem Inhalt auf den Weg zu ihr gemacht:

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are going to enjoy your sunday. A very sweet young lady called Darcey started at a new school last week and we wanted to let her know that we are thinking of her and wishing her all the best. This is why we sent off a parcel with all of these in it last week:

Für die Karte (links im Bild) habe ich das Notizblatt ausgestanzt, das Gitter und den Spruch darauf gestenpelt und mit klarem Embossingpulver hervorgehoben und danach mit lauter schulrelavanten Zeichen und Sprüchen bestempelt. Darcey ist auch dort wo sie lebt ein eher außergewöhnlicher Name und sie findet ihn selten mal auf einem Andenken und daher wollte ich ihren Namen unbedingt auf der Karte haben. Dazu habe ich die "Quinns ABCs" von Lawn Fawn herausgesucht und nach dem Trocknen mit Copics im Ombre-Look ausgemalt. 

I die cut a piece of paper with the "Memo Pad" die by Technique Tuesday, stamped the "Graph paper" on it in blue and then added the sentiment and all the other school related icons and sentiments in black. Because I wanted the "you are one smart kitty" to stand out a bit more I used clear embossing powder to give it some shine and dimension. Darcey is a rather uncommon name even where she lives and so she doesn't find her name on keepsakes very often. Therefore I wanted to include her name on the card, to make it extra special for her. I took out Lawn Fawn's "Quinns ABCs" and coloured them with Copics in an ombre look.

Als nächstes habe ich die Katze gestempelt. Dazu war ein bisschen Masking nötig... Zuerst habe ich den Hut gestempelt, die Katze dann darunter und als letztes die Bücher. Meine Masken schneide ich in der Regel aus Post-its und versuche mittlerweile auch immer sofort eine Maske anzufertigen, wenn ich einen neuen Stempel in meinem Bastelzimmer willkommen heißen darf. Wenn ich die Masken nämlich habe, dann benutze ich sie auch - wenn nicht, dann bin ich manchmal auch ein bisschen faul und verzichte darauf, obwohl es eine meiner Lieblingstechniken ist, weil man damit so viel mehr aus seinen Stempeln herausholen kann. 

Zum Schluss habe ich dann alles auf einer rosa bestempelte Kartenbasis arrangiert und aufgeklebt.

Next I stamped the cat and needed to do a bit of masking for it. So first I stamped the hat, then the cat underneath it and lastly the books the cat is sitting on. Usually I cut my masks from post its and lately try to make sure that whenever a new stamps decides to take residence in my craft room I cut a mask for it right away. When I have the mask for a stamp I will use it, if not I have to admit that sometimes I am too lazy to get everything out again and fussy cut the mask for it. Which really is bad, because masking is one of my all time favourite techniques as you can get so much more life out of your stamps by it. 

All that was left to do now was to arrange everything on my previously stamped card base and to glue it down.

Mit der "Goodie Bag" Stanze von Lawn Fawn habe ich dann noch dieses kleine Täschchen angefertigt und mit Süßigkeiten gefüllt. Nachdem ich das Stanzteil zweimal vor mir liegen hatte, habe ich eines noch einmal durch die Big Shot geschickt, um das Fenster in die Front zu schneiden und anschließend beide Teile vorne mit dem gleichen Hintergrundstempel verziert, wie die Karte. Den Farbverlauf habe ich durch den Einsatz von drei verschiedenen Stempelkissen erzielt. Dazu habe ich mit der hellsten Farbe (Soft Pink) etwa die obere Hälfte des  Stempels eingefärbt, dann die nächste Farbe benutzt (Bubble Gum) und sie etwas mit dem Pink überlappen lassen und bis fast nach ganz unten aufgetragen und zum Schluss habe ich dann noch mit "Pale Tomatoe" ungefähr das untere Drittel eingefärbt. Bei den Übergängen habe ich darauf geachtet nicht zu fest zu drücken, damit die Farben sich ein bisschen besser vermischen konnten.

I made this cute "Goodie Bag" with a Lawn Fawn die and filled it with some treats. To create the goodie bag I needed the die cut piece twice and also needed to send one of them through once again to create the die cut window. I stamped the background stamp I had used on the card again on the front and back to tie everything together. The ombre look was achieved by using three different ink pads. I used the lightest (Soft Pink) to ink up the upper half of the stamp, before coming in with the second lightest (Bubble Gum) which I made sure overlapped a bit with the first and lastly added "Pale Tomatoe" to the bottom part of the stamp. Where the colours met I made sure to move them back and forth a bit (Jennifer McGuire calls it "chacha-ing") so that the colours would mix a little better. 

Zur Verzierung habe ich noch eine weitere Katze und einen kleinen Apfel ausgestanzt und angemalt. Hier könnt ihr noch einmal beides nebeneinander sehen:

For a bit of embellishment I added another cat and an apple to the front of the card and also stamped the "Puurfect" sentiment. Here you can see the card and the goodie bag side by side:

Warmest Wishes Snowman Card

Nach der Sommer-Delfinkarte vom letzten Mal gibt es jetzt doch mal wieder eine Winterkarte. Da ich mich kenne - kurz vor Weihnachten wird es immer eng und stressig - fange ich dieses Jahr mal ein wenig zeitiger mit den Karten für die kalte Jahreszeit an. Und dieser Sketch hat mich zu meiner Karte inspiriert:

Last post's card was a summery dolphin card, but now we need to face the truth: Winter is coming. And because I know myself (too) well - and right before christmas time is rare and it ususally gets stressful - I wanted to start early with my cards for the cold season. This sketch from the MFT Sketch challenge has inspired me to make my card:

Da ich die Idee von einem Schneemann im Aquarelllook schön fand, habe ich ein Stück Aquarellpapier von Tim Holtz und meine Tombowstifte zurecht gelegt. Das Papier von Tim Holtz benutze ich meistens dann, wenn ich weiße Flächen haben möchte, da mein "normales" von Canson leider einen leichten Gelbstich hat. (Falls jemand ein gutes, günstiges und weißes Aquarellpapier empfehlen kann, würde ich mich freuen, wenn ihr mir hier einen Kommentar hinterlassen würdet!) Den Schneemann habe ich mit Antique Linen Distress Ink gestempelt und mit den Tombows immer dort Farbe aufgetragen, wo sie am dunkelsten sein sollte. Mit einem Pinsel und Wasser habe ich dann die Farbe auf der restlichen Fläche verteilt. Für den Hintergrund habe ich Mermaid Lagoon und Chipped Sapphire benutzt. Dazu habe ich die Stempelkissen einfach auf ein Stück Plastik gedrückt, die Farbe mit Wasser verdünnt und mit einem etwas breiteren Pinsel aufgetragen.

I used a sheet of Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock, because I wanted white paper. My usual watercolor paper has kind of an offwhite or vanilla shade which I didn't like for the snowman. I stamped the snowman with Antique Linen Distress Ink and used Tombow markers to color him in. I put some marker down where I wanted the colour to be the darkest and then used a damp brush to pull the colour out to the rest of the area. For the background I used Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire. I pressed the inkpads on some acetate and then used a brush to colour in the area behind that sweet snowman.

Auf ein zweites Blatt Papier habe ich mit der Farbe Tide Pool von Hero Arts das Pulli-Muster aufgestempelt und beide dann mit der Notizblattstanze von Technique Tuesday ausgestanzt. Der weiße Hintergrund der Karte war mir ein wenig zu langweilig, also habe ich einen Embossingfolder benutzt, um die "Schneeflocken" zu prägen. Zum Schluss habe ich noch den Kartengruß mit Versamark auf ein schwarzes Stück Cardstock gestempelt und anschließend weiß embossed.

I stamped the "Sweater Stitch" background stamp on to a second piece of paper in Tide Pool ink from Hero Arts, because that matched the light blue from the snowman's scarf really well and cut both pieces using a die from Technique Tuesday, Because I felt that all the white space on the card was a bit too boring I used an older embossing folder to get the illusion of (admittedly huge) snowflakes in the back. To finish the card of I stamped my greeting in Versamark ink on some black piece of cardstock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

Sending Sunshine - Guest Design for the "Craft and Smash" Challenge

Hallöchen zusammen!

Heute darf ich euch die Karte zeigen, die ich als Gastdesignerin im Juli für den wunderbaren Challenge Blog „Craft & Smash“gebastelt habe. (Vielleicht erinnert ihr euch noch... meine Katzen-Karte war dort Anfang Juni unter die Gewinner gewählt worden.) :o) Das Thema lautet „Sentiments“, also könnt ihr jedes Projekt mit einem Gruß oder einem Gedanken einreichen. Weil der Sommer endlich zu uns gefunden hat, wollte ich mein neues Set von Wplus9 benutzen und eine Karte machen, die man sowohl einem Mann, als auch einer Frau schicken kann, wenn er oder sie mal ein wenig Aufmunterung brauchen.

Hello everybody!

Today I may finally show you the card I guest-designed for the month of july for the lovely people over at Craft & Smash. (Maybe you already know, that they had chosen my card to me amongst their winning projects at the beginning of June.) ;o) This time the challenge is all about „sentiments“. If you have a card or any project that has a sentiment on it, why not join us over there? Because summer has finally arrived (and with might if I might add that) I wanted to create a card using my new set from Wplus9 which could be send to either a man or a woman who is in need of a smile. 

Es handelt sich beinahe um eine 1-Layer-Karte. Lediglich das weiße Recheck habe ich mit Abstandskleber ein wenig hochgestellt. Ansonsten habe ich für die Karte die Maskiertechnik benutzt und das Wort "Sunshine" mit gelb embossed. Wenn man die Karte in der Hand hält, sieht das wirklich cool aus, weil man die Regentropfen durch die Schrift hindurch sehen kann und die Buchstaben diesen herrlichen Glanz haben.

Except for giving the white rectangle some dimension with foam tape underneath it, this card is a one layer card. I used some masking and embossed the word "sunshine" in yellow. When you hold the card in your hands and tilt it a little, you can see how shiny the embossing turned out and I also love that you cann still see the rain drops through the embossing. 

Die Sonne in dem Polaroid habe ich gestempelt und den Himmel nachher mit Copics ausgemalt. Ich mag den Farbübergang von dem dunklen Ton bis zum hellsten Blau direkt an der Sonne!

The sun was stamped into the polaroid frame, but I coloured the sky with my copics so I could have the lightest shade right next to the sun and let it darken out towards the edge of the frame.

Heute habe ich noch einmal eine Karte mit Cedar, dem Fuchs für euch. (Ich kann ihm einfach nicht widerstehen...)

Heya guys!
Today I have another card showcasing Cedar the fox for you. (I just think he is pretty irresistable...)

Nachdem ich wusste, wo genau ich was auf dieser Karte haben wollte, ging alles ganz fix. Ich habe Cedar in die Mitte meines Panels gestempelt und dann abgedeckt, um noch die Bäume und den Hügel zu ergänzen. Das viele Weiß habe ich durch die winzigen Wolken unterbrochen. In die obere linke Ecke habe ich das Banner "gehängt" - so wirkt die Karte noch mal fröhlicher und passender zu einem Geburtstag. Zum Schluss habe ich die Kartenbasis geprägt und "Cedar" mit Abstandshaltern aufgeklebt.

This card came together quickly once I had thought out where I wanted all the pieces to go. I stamped Cedar and then masked him off to stamp the trees and the hill behind him. For the colouring I used some inexpensive coloured pencils. I added the colourful banner to the top left and a few tiny clouds to the background to make it look more finished. I embossed my card base with the little banners and mounted the stitched rectangle on top. Done ;o)

Im letzten Jahr hat eine Freundin von mir geheiratet und zu diesem Anlass habe ich dem frischvermählten Paar ein Minialbum für ihre Lieblingsfotos gebastelt. (An dieser Stelle noch einmal herzlichen Glückwunsch an Jenny und Levent! Zur goldenen Hochzeit gibt es dann spätestens das nächste Album - versprochen!!!)

Last year a friend of mine got married and I made this mini album for the newlyweds. (Congrats again to Jenny and Levent! For your 50th anniversary at the latest I'll make you another mini-album. Promised!!!)

Aufgeklappt sieht es dann so aus:

Inside it looks like this.

 Man kann an vielen Stellen noch Seiten umklappen und immer wieder Neues entdecken. Die Fotos sollten die beiden selber auswählen können und auch einen Platz um ihre Lieblingsmomente der Hochzeit zu beschreiben ist vorhanden. Hinter die beiden Polaroid-Stanzteile aus dem Set "Precious Polaroids" von Die-Namics können Fotos geschoben werden und darunter ist auch noch einmal viel Platz für Erinnerungen.

There are many flaps to turn and new things to discover. The polaroid frames are from the set "Precious Polaroids" by Die-Namics and there is room for a photo inside. I wanted to give them a chance to choose their own pictures, therefore I left the pages mostly blank. There is also a pocket with three tags for them to write down their favourite moments.

Die Idee stammt leider nicht von mir, sondern aus einem Video-Tutorial von Loretta. Vielleicht habt ihr ja auch Lust euch das Video einmal anzusehen! Mir hat es sehr geholfen, daher: "Ein großes Dankeschön, Loretta!"

Unfortunately I cannot take credit for the idea of the mini-album. I've seen it in a video-tutorial by Loretta. Maybe you'll go and check her video out! Because of her tutorial I made my very first mini-album, so: "Thank you Loretta!"
