Have a BERRY sweet birthday (mouse and snail)

Hello everyone,
today I am back with a brand new card for Papercraft Challenges. This time the theme was "Fruits, Food and Vegetables" and this is what I made:

When I was making this card I looked outside the window and saw a rainy grey outside and really craved for some warmth and most of all sunshine and spring. I think you might feel it when you look at the finished project. It is so bright and quirky and so much more "in your face" than my cards usually are... Looking back I would definately have put vellum behind the designer paper and my cover and also switched the papers for the "berry" part of the sentiment. However I still like how it turned out, but thought I should let you know what I would change if I were to make it again. ;o)

To create the card I started by stamping and colouring in a whole bunch of strawberries, because I wasn't sure how many I would need in the end. (Now I have around 10 of them left, so you might see some tiny strawberries again in future projects...) Next I stamped and coloured the cute mouse and the sweet snail and die cut the letters and the front cover. The latter was cut twice: once from white cardstock and another time from the same red cardstock I used as my card base. I adhered them together after I had trimmed of a tiny bit of both one short and one long side from the red cardstock. This way you get the shadowed effect very easily. The assembling of the letters and the straberries took a bit of time, but when I was happy with the placement I stamped the rest of the sentiment and also adhered the two critters. I hope you like the card and even more so that you will play along with us at Papercraft Challenges this time! Have a lovely day and happy crafting my friends! Yours Maike

Liebe Grüße aus der Ferne - Butterfly

Hello there,
hope you are all doing great. This card - that I made as an inspiration card for the newest challenge "Geometric" at Papercraft Challenges - is the perfect card to just say hello to any friend whom you might like to make smile I think. This is the card:

The image-stamps I used are from a small German company called "Stempelschmiede" and are rather old, so that unfortunately I can't link you to the same ones, but I will link you to the shop if you are interested in having a look what other stamps the offer ;o) I love this cute butterfly in the rainbow look and I hope it brings a smile to your face as well ;o)

I am aware that I paired the images with a rather unlikely background, but I had that one laying around and I really liked the look of the purple and pink geometric pattern paired with the colourful images. What do you think? Would you have liked a green background better? I would love to see which geometric pattern you will create and hope to see many of your makes in our gallery! Have a fabulous week and happy crafting everyone ;o) Take care, yours Maike!

Shimmering Butterflies

Hello everyone,
for the newest challenge at the Crafty Cardmakers with the theme "Butterflies" I created this card as an inspiration:

Using a stencil I created the background in an ombre fashion and went on die cutting all the butterflies next. I die cut the big butterfly from some sturdy vellum and die cut the intricate design from the shimmery cardstock next. I did put "Stick It" behind the paper before die-cutting because I am really not good at adhering down tiny things.

I really love the effect the paper gives. Depending on how you tilt it in the light it catches the light differently and thus the card never really looks quite the same...

I added the small butterflies as extra-embellishment and in order to give the eye something to move along with - and yes, I admit it, because I love the paper so much and wanted even more on my card! I hope you are going to join us for our "Butterfly" challenge at the Crafty Cardmakers! Please stay safe, have a wonderful week and happy crafting!!! Yours Maike

Happy Happy Birthday

Heya my dear crafty friends!
Time has just been flying by these last two weeks and I forgot to post my card for PINspirational Challenges... This is the inspiration picture:

As you can see I chose the wood as my background and also added those cute images by Purple Onion Designs to reflect the bird house from the picture.

I added the middle frame with foam tape while the other two are glued directly to the background paper, because I wanted to raise the birds a little bit. To finish the card I added some blue stars and a heart next to the sentiment. Hope you like the card. Again, my apologies for posting this card late! Hope you have a great weekend and happy crafting ;o) Maike

Spring time fox

Heya everyone ;o)
Winter has been long eneough now, don't you think? So we at Challenge Up Your Life want to see some spring themed projects this time! I decided to create a birthday can with this lovely Penny Black stamp that has so many spring-elements combined:

I cut the coloured piece of paper down and added a metallic blue border around it by swiping the ink pad along the edge of the paper. It does look really cool and shimmery in real life. I added it to a card base that I had created by die cutting the panel piece two times, scoring the one in the back at about 1 inch from the left and gluing them together. Sometimes I really enjoy a different card base, don't you?

Lastly I added the strip of red paper with the white embossed greeting and my card was done. I'd love to see you "Goodbye Winter" card, layout or other project in our gallery at Challenge Up Your life. Let us fill the blog with springthemed happiness ;o))) Have a fantastic weekend and happy crafting y'all!!! Yours Maike
