30th Birthday (rainbow colours and cats)

Hello everyone!

Today marks the day of the 100th challenge over at Papercraft Challenges, so the theme had to be "Happy Birthday"! I used the opportunity to create a card for a collegue's 30th birthday:

I love all the colour(s) and the vibrancy of this card. My cardbase was covered with this beautiful rainbow coloured paper and I created a tag with a blue sky (I splattered some drops on for more interest) and a grassy hill scene on it so that the cats would have a place to stand. 

I adhered the tag using foam tape and also added a lot of white glue dots across the card going from the top left to the bottom right to add more interest and to help guide the eye. Happy Halloween (cat and dog)

Hello everyone ;o)
this is a sad post to write, even though I really like this card and am quite happy how it turned out. The sad part is that this will be the very last challenge at the Crafty Cardmakers. Our wonderful Lin from the "Twisted Witch" blog has good reasons to step down from coordinating the team and the challenge. However I am really heartbroken that the challenge won't continue. I have met so many lovely and fabulous people and talented crafters through the challenge. I am grateful for having been a part of this team for as long as it lasted and I wish each and everyone just the best of luck, good health and happiness! 
But now onto today's card. This is my inspiration for you for our "Things That Go Bump In The Night" challenge:

I started with the background and used different Distress Inks to create a lighter middle and a darker outside and also stamped a cemetary scene on top of the grassy hill. When in the end that still didn't feel dark enough I went around the panel with "Black Soot" and that really made even the darker, duller colours pop. 

Next I stamped and coloured the two fun images by Simon Says stamp. They are from an older set which is new to me though. They are quite big and I also love the sentiment which is from the same set. That one was stamped and embossed before I added the cat and the dog, but after the background had dried for quite some time. I thought, that the top was a little too bare so I added the spider and her net to the upper left corner and that finished off my card. I hope you like it and I also hope that you will help us leaving blogland with a bang by participating in our last challenge!

Älter? Besser! (Cat)

Hello everyone!

This card was made as inspiration for the newest theme "Woodgrain Background" over at Challenge Up Your Life:

I used a card base by Lawn Fawn and added all the other elements directly on top. This card is meant for a man so I kept it fairly simple and kept the colours more neutral than usual. ;o) I wanted the cat to have some kind of frame, but didn't want to take away from the background so I decided to go with a vellum circle behind it.

The cat is an image by Gerda Steiner Designs which I really love a lot. You can customize it with a sentiment or another image and for this card I decided to use the sentiment "Älter Besser!" which means "Older Better!"

The tiny star stickers are from Create a Smile and are perfect to add a bit of embellishment. I hope you are going to play along with our challenge this month! Have a fabulous week and happy crafting everyone, yours Maike

Oh Happy Day (Cats in Frame)

Hello again ;o)

Today I am back with another inspiration card but this time it was made for the newest PINspirational Challenge. This is the current inspiration picture:

Obsiously I used the cat as an inspiration but also I went with "Oh happy day" as my sentiment because of the famous song ;o) For my card I started by colouring in all those cute cats with Copic markers and fussy cut them out. Next I made a card base from dark pink paper which I also die cut the frame from. I backed the frame with a yellow paper and adhered the cats on top of it.

In order to pay credit to the oevrall grey feel of thge inspiration picture I used a grey paper as my backdrop and adhered the frame over top. And because I had gone with the polka hearts I chose yellow hearts as embellishments on my card. I hope you like it and that you are going to play along with our challenge (maybe again?) this time around ;o) Each picture provides so much inspiration depending on what one focuses on - that is one thing I really love about picture inspirations ;o) have a fabulous week everyone and happy crafting,

Tippe Tappe - a card for a vet

Heya everyone,

I hope you are all doing good and that crafting or other hobbies, people, phone-calls, ... help you through this strange time. Challenge Up Your Life's new theme for the month of May is "Animals", so I am hopeful our gallery will overflow with your lovely projects at the end of the month ;o) This is my inspiration card:

A friend of mine needed a card for a vet who had opened their own office (or is it clinic?) and I had so much fun making this one for her. This is the front of the card and I wanted it to look like you were looking through the windows into the office. 

Though the windows you can only see the dog and the cat, but when you open the card...

...you will find a few more animals as well. The card can be opened one more time to give room for a text and - as I understood it - loads of signatures from friends to wish the vet good luck. Heya all!

So glad you stopped by today, because it is time for a new challenge at the Crafty Cardmakers ;o) Our "Green" challenge is a kind of tradition already. It is a theme that always gets me to think a lot about my stash and how I could make a card interesting with such a limited colour palette. This is what I made for this years challenge:

I decided to go for cats that are playing in the garden. That gave me the chance to add many different shades of green and also have the cats look different but still keeping to white and grey. Unfortunately the cat images by My Favorite Things I used for my card seem to be discontinued. I hope you are going to join us in our "Green" challenge. For the new challenge at Papercraft Challenge we ask for "Ribbons" on your card or project. This is my inspiration for the theme:

I had one of these polaroid pictures prepared on my desk and thought it would be great to have the colours of the collar represented on the card with ribbons. 

They help accent the sentiment as well I think. I didn't want the card to be too "empty" so I stencilled some stars on to the card base itself and after adhering the polaroid I also added loads of Nuvo drops to make it even more fun. Smart Kitty With Glasses (GSD)

Hallo ihr lieben Kreativen ;o)

Ich freu mich, dass ihr vorbeischaut und hoffe, ihr hattet ein schönes Wochenende. Damit die Woche auch so richtig kreativ startet, habe ich heute eine neu Challenge der Crafty Cardmakers für euch. Das Thema lautet "Für einen Jungen / Für einen Mann" und das hier ist meine Karte zum Thema:

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you have had a lovely and creative weekend and that maybe the new challenge by the Crafty Cardmakers will inspire you to keep on creating. The new theme is "For a Boy / For a Man" and this is the card I have made:

Diese süße Katze sollte mein Fokus werden, weil ich die einfach total niedlich finde. Diese riesengroße Brille ist ein wahrer Hingucker und dann noch dieser Blick dazu ;o) Nachdem ich alle Elemente, die ich brauchen würde (und noch ein paar mehr... hihi) vorbereitet hatte konnte es los gehen. Ich habe den Sternenrahmen einmal aus dickem Cardstock und einmal aus Kopierpapier ausgestanzt. Das Letztere habe ich als Maske für den Hintergrund benutzt, so dass das Muster wirklich nur innerhalb des "Kreises" zu sehen sein würde.

I wanted to use this cat as my focal point, because I think it is sooooo cute and fun. Those big glasses look just adorable on him, don't you think? After I had prepared all the images I would need (and some more... hehe) I die cut the star frame once from white cardstock and once from some thin paper I had sitting on my desk. The last was used to create a mask for the stencilling part, because I wanted to keep the colour completely inside the frame, but also fill it completely if you know what I mean.

Mit der Farbe "Tide Pool" von Hero Arts und meinem Stencil habe ich das Muster direkt auf die Kartenbasis gewischt und anschließend des Rahmen direkt darauf geklebt. Da der Rahmen fast rund ist, aber halt doch nicht ganz musste ich ihn ein wenig drehen und wenden bis ich ihn an der richtigen Stelle hatte, aber am Ende hat es geklappt und kein bisschen Darbe lugt irgendwo durch ;o)  Zuletzt habe ich dann noch die Katze nebst Maus, Vase und Bücherstapel aufgeklebt und den Spruch mittig unter den Rahmen gestempelt. Damit war meine Karte fertig und ich hoffe, sie gefällt euch genauso gut wie mir ;o) Habt eine wunderbare Woche und spielt doch  bei uns mit, wenn bei euch im Kartenvorrat auch immer ein Männerkartenmangel herrscht wie bei mir! I used "Tide Pool" ink by Hero Arts to create the pattern in the background and glued the frame directle to the card base making sure I had it placed correctly so that no colour would peek out ;o) Next I placed the coloured elements to the frame and stamped the greeting and my card was done. For the newest "Flower" -themed Papercraft Challenge I created this card:

Ich habe diesen hübschen Blumenkranz von "Sparkle N Sprinkle" mit Copics coloriert und dann mit einem pink gestempelten Hintergrund und der süßen Katze von Mama Elephant kombiniert. Der Spruch ist aus einem Klartext-Set.

I used the pretty wreath image from our kind sponsor "Sparkle N Sprinkle" and paired it with a background I stamped in a light pink ink and this cute cat by Mama Elephant. The sentiment says "Get Better Soon" in German.

Bei Herzchen und Rosa denkt man ja gerade im Moment häufig an den Valentinstag - ich habe das Inspirationsbild der neusten PINspirational Challenge allerdings als Anlass genommen, um eine Gute-Besserungs-Karte zu basteln. Die fehlen oft bei mir im Vorrat und wenn ich dann mal eine brauche, habe ich meist keine Zeit schnell eine zu machen. Hier seht ihr das Inspirationsbild:

When one sees hearts and the colours pink and red usually - especially at this time of year - people think of a Valentine - however, I wanted to show, that the theme of our newest challenge at PINspirational Challenges fits well with get well cards also. And seeing that I seem to lack them in my stash whenever I really need one I decided to create one of these. This is our inspiration picture:

 

Ich habe momentan ja wirklich viel Freude mit allen möglichen Schablonen, aber die von Create A Smile benutze ich besonders gerne. Einerseits sind sie toll designed und man kann sie eigentlich fast immer nutzen und was mir außerdem so gefällt ist, dass sie aus einer so schön dicken Folie gestanzt sind.  Mit "Spun Sugar" Distress Ink habe ich sowohl Innen als auch Außen einen Farbverlauf von unten rechts nach oben links gewischt und anschließend die Herzen aufgetragen. Da ich die Farbe außen intensiver haben wollte, habe ich dort "Picked Raspberry" benutzt - innen bin ich bei "Spun Sugar" geblieben.

I used one of Create a Smile's wonderfully sturdy stencils to create the background, using "Spun Sugar" and "Picked Raspberry" Distress Ink for the outside of the card and just the "Spun Sugar" for the inside. For both I created a gradiant from the bottom right to the top left with the light pink and afterwards added the hearts using the stencils.

Aus der Front habe ich mit einem Skalpellmesser ein Quadrat ausgeschnitten und von beiden Seiten einen quadratischen Rahmen aufgeklebt, um ein Fenster zu erhalten, aus dem die Katze herausschauen kann. Geöffnet sieht die Karte dann so aus:

I cut a square from the card front using a craft knife and added a square frame to both sides, so that I would have a window for the cat to look through. This is what the card looks like when you open it:

Alles, was nun noch zu tun war, war die Katze und alle weiteren Elemente aufzukleben und den Spruch außen unter das Fenster zu stempeln. Christmas Series #24 / Weihnachtsserie #24 (Purrfect Christmas)

Tomorrow we are celebrating Christmas here in Germany so I thought I'd better hurry up and share that second to last card with you. Did you remember to play along with my giveaway? There is still plenty of time to collect some tokens to incline your chance of winning a $25 gift certificate ;o)

Wie ihr sehen könnt, ist die Karte für einen Katzenliebhaber gedacht ;o) Dafür habe ich bei mir selber bzw. einer älteren Karte abgeschaut, die ich mit den "I Knead You"-Stempeln von MFT gemacht hatte und die eine meiner All-Time-Favourite Karten ist. Ich habe drei Polaroidrahmen ausgestanzt und das Innere mit "Twisted Citron" Distress Ink eingefärbt. Für diese Karte habe ich drei andere Katzen coloriert und ausgeschnitten. Eine davon hat sogar noch als passendes Accessoire eine Weihnachtsmütze bekommen. (Mit meinen beiden Katern dürfte ich das nicht ausprobieren... vermutlich würden sie ausziehen oder so.. ;o)

As you can see today's card is meant for a cat-lover ;o) I copied the design from an older card I have always loved with the "I Knead You" set by MFT. I die cut three polaroid frames and coloured the insides green using "Twisted Citron" Distress Ink. This time I coloured three different adorable cats and gave one of them a Christmas hat. (My cats would probably move out of our house if I ever tried this.... ;o)

Als nächstes habe ich den Spruch hinzugefügt und dafür einige Buchstabensticker in den gleichen Farben angemalt, die ich auch für die Weihnachtsmütze verwendet hatte. Die weiteren Teile des Spruches auf den äußeren Rahmen habe ich einfach nur gestempelt, um den Fokus auf dem "purrfect" zu belassen. Die Polaroids habe ich mit ausgestanzten Büroklammern auf gemustertem Weihnachtspapier "befestigt" und alles zusammen anschließend auf die Kartenbasis geklebt. Ich hoffe, ihr habt nicht zu viel Stress, Lust und Zeit morgen noch einmal reinzuschauen, um die letzte Karte meiner Serie zu sehen und heute einen schönen Vor-Weihnachtstag! Next I added the greeting for which I had coloured some letter stickers the same colour as the Christmas hat. The sentiments on the outer frames are simply stamped, so that the focus would be on the "purrfect". I "attached" the frames with die cut cut paper-clips to some pattered paper and glued all of it to the card base I had prepared. I hope you are not having too much stress, that you will find the time to come by tomorrow for my last card of the 2017's edition of my Christmas series and that you will have a wonderful pre-christmas day ;o) Happy crafting, yours Maike

Christmas Series Card #3 / Weihnachtsserie Karte # 3 (Meowy Christmas)

Heute möchte ich meine dritte Karte aus der Weihnachtsserie mit euch teilen. Dieses Mal konnte ich nicht widerstehen und habe diese super niedlichen Katzen von Gerda Steiner Designs zu den Hauptakteuren gemacht:

Today I would like to share the third card of my Christmas Series with you. This time I could not withstand those super cute cats by Gerda Steiner Designs and made them the main attraction on the card:

Ich hatte sofort diese Szene im Kopf ;o) Wie ihr vielleicht wisst, habe ich selber auch 2 Kater und schon so manches Mal Mühe sie vom geschmückten Weihnachtsbaum fernzuhalten... Die ganze Szene sollte ausschauen, wie in einem Wohnzimmer und deshalb habe ich den Hintergrund wie eine Tapete mit Streifen gestaltet. Für die Streifen bin ich einfach noch einmal mit der Farbe, die ich für den Hintergrund verwendet habe drüber gegangen. Meiner Erfahrung nach reicht das normalerweise, um zumindest ein wenig zu sehen zu sein. Aber offenbar habe ich dieses Mal eine zu helle Farbe gewählt, so dass die Streifen wirklich nur sehr schwer zu erkennen sind.... Wer sich anstrengt, sieht aber vielleicht, welchen Look ich angestrebt habe ;o)

When I saw these cats I could picture the scene in my head immediatrly. As some of you might know I am the Dosenöffner ("can opener") for two cats and this scene is nothing I am not familiar with when we put the Christmas tree up in December. The whole scene was supposed to look like it was happening in a living room, so I created a wallpapered look for the background. Usually it is enough to simply go over the covered area again with the same marker to get some contrasting lines, but for some reasons this time they have almost disappeared. Maybe the marker I had used (YG11) was simply too bright or something like it... However if you squint a little and tilt your head, you might be able to adumbrate (is that the right word???) which look I was going for ;o)

Den Tapetenhintergrund habe ich mit einer Stanze von MFT abgerundet und gewellt und mit Hilfe einer weiteren Stanze ist das Feld für den Spruch entstanden. Diese Stanze stanzt gleichzeitig eine Art Label und den Rand drum herum, so dass man wirklich sehr flexibel ist. Hier habe ich mich dazu entschieden, den Label-Teil herauszunehmen, aber den Rand zu benutzen und finde den Effekt wirklich klasse.

I die cut the top piece of paper with a scallop border die and also die cut a window from the panel, to have a place for my sentiment. For this I used a die by MFT which is so plain at first sight, but you can do more with it than just surround a sentiment with a frame I found. I decided to pop the panel up, but have the frame glued directly to the card base which gives lovely effect I think.

Die Kugeln habe ich ganz normal mit einer helleren Stelle coloriert, um die Rundung der Kugel hinzubekommen. Anschließend habe ich aber noch die Pünktchen für etwas mehr Verzierung und ein zusätzliches Highlight mit einem weißen Gellyroll Pen hinzugefügt. Die Käppchen der Kugeln habe ich mit einem Goldstift ausgemalt, weil die bei uns früher immer golden waren und ich das als Kind toll fand, wenn die Lichter darin so wunderschön funkelten ;o) Ich hoffe, euch gefällt meine dritte Weihnachtskarte ;o) Habt einen schönen (Feier-)tag und happy crafting, eure Maike ;o)

I coloured the Christmas baubles as I usually would with a lighter area in the middle to create the effect of roundness. Next I added the little white dots and a white highlight with a Gellyroll Pen. The little hats of the baubles were coloured golden, because when I was young I loved seeing all the lights of the tree reflecting from that golden part. Happy Halloween - Grumpy Cat (Gerda Steiner Designs)

Auch bei PINspirational ist das Thema "Halloween" und ich habe auch für diese Karte Motive von Gerda Steiner benutzt:

PINspirational Challenges' new topic is "Halloween" as well and for this cardI have used the sweet images by Gerda Steiner again:

Begonnen habe ich mit dem Colorieren der süßen Stempel aus dem neuen "Where is the Candy" Set. Ich liebe die Tierstempel - also die Hauptakteure des Sets, aber auch die süßen Zusatzbildchen finde ich klasse - deswegen habe ich auch direkt alle ein paar Mal coloriert ;o) Für diese Karte habe ich mich entschieden, den Hund und die Katze zu benutzen, weil ich sofort eine Story hinter den Mimiken der beiden entdeckt habe. Welche Geschichte ich mir da in meinem Hirn zusammen gereimt habe? Na, schaut euch mal den Gesichtsausdruck der Samtpfote an und dann guckt mal, was sie trägt. Genau, das Licht. Der Hund hingegen hat schon einen ganzen Eimer voller Süßigkeiten und bekommt trotzdem immer noch mehr zugeworfen. Da wäre ich als Katze auch ein wenig neidisch und grummelig ;o)

I started with colouring all the cute images from the new "Where is the Candy" set by Gerda Steiner. I love the images of the animals and the little additions as well ;o) For this card I decided to only use the dog and the cat, because I could see a story behind the images: The cat looks very grumpy holding the lantern, right? And why is that? Well, I think, that the cat is mighty jealous, because the dog has a bucket full of candy already and the sweets are only thrown at him. ;o)

Den Hintergrund habe ich mit Distress Inks in Seedless Preserves, Carved Pumpkin und Fossilized Amber und ein paar Spritzern Perfect Pearls Wasser gemacht (das sind die glänzenden, hellen Punkte). Als Akzent habe ich noch die kleine Spinne von der oberen, rechten Ecke baumeln lassen - da sie sonst so leer war. Zum Schluss habe ich nur noch den Spruch gestempelt, mit Copics noch Schatten für die Tiere hinzugefügt und dann alles aufgeklebt. Damit es so ausschaut, als würde die Katze mit dem Licht vorgehen, habe ich sie als einzige mit Abstandskleber aufgeklebt.

I created the background with Distress Inks in Seedless Preserves, Carved Pumpkin and Fossilized Amber and also some flicks of water that I had added some Perfect Pearls in the colour Perfect Pearls to (they are the bright spots all over the background). As an accents, because it seemed to be a little to empty, I added the little spider to the top right. Now all that was left to do was to stamp the sentiment, add some drop shadows for the animals with a Copic marker and adhere the element to the card. I have used foam tape for the cat, so it looks like it is a bit in front of the dog holding the lantern, but everything else is adhered flat to the background.

Just Fur You - Leopard

Für die 2017 Card Design Superstar Challenge: Innovation Master von MFT und für eine wahnsinnig liebe Freundin habe ich diese Karte angefertigt:

For the 2017 Card Design Superstar Challenge: Innovation Master by MFT and for a very dear friend of mine I made this colourful card:

Zuerst habe ich mit Distress Inks einen Regenbogenhintergrund gewischt und mit ein paar Tropfen Wasser besprenkelt, damit es nicht nur flach farbig ist ;o) Danach habe ich ein wenig mit meinen vorhandenen Stanzen gespielt. Um diesen Cover-Up Look zu erreichen habe ich all die unten aufgeführten Stanzen benutzt und muss sagen, es gefällt mir richtig gut. So eine ähnliche Stanze gibt es seit einiger Zeit von einer anderen Firma und es hat mich so oft in den Fingern gejuckt sie zu bestellten. Jetzt, da ich weiß, dass ich den Look mit ein bisschen mehr Arbeit auch so hinbekomme, kann ich das "gesparte" Geld ja anderweitig investieren ;o)

First I created a rainbow background using Distress Inks and some droplets of water to give it a little bit more interest. In order to get this cover-up look I played with a few of the dies (see further down for the list of supplies) I already had in my stash and I like the result very much. A different company released a die just like this recently and I had the urge to order one for the longest time. But now, that I know that with a few steps more I can get a very similar look, I think I'll get to invest the money I "saved" in some lovely new stamps or so :o)

Als nächstes habe ich dann diesen supersüßen Leopard auf seinem Ast und seine 3 gefiederten Freunde coloriert und ausgeschnitten. Bevor ich alles aufgeklebt habe, habe ich noch eine passende Stelle für meinen Spruch gesucht und diesen dann mit Versamark gestempelt und mit weißem Embossingpulver bestreut. Ich hoffe, euch gefällt die Karte und vielleicht ja sogar meine Idee der Stanzennutzung (die ich sicher auch mal mit anderen Kombinationen ausprobieren werde). Next I coloured this super cute leopard on his branch and his three feathered friends with Copics and cut them out. Before I glued everything in place, I found the right spot for the sentiment by just placing everything down and then I stamped the "Just Fur You" in Versamark and added white embossing powder to it. I hope you like my card and the way I have combined those dies (which is a technique I am going to try soon with different dies I think). Have a fantastic day and happy crafting, yours Maike
